Show Chou Chou points in Classroomscreen

If you project Classroomscreen, your Chou Chou points can show up on it. Copy the embed code from Class settings, paste it into Classroomscreen's Embed widget, and every time you give points, the student's first name and character pop up on the board, even when you give them from your phone at the back of the room.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Open Class settings

Open your class in Chou Chou Teach, tap More, then Class settings.

  2. 2

    Make the embed code

Scroll to Embed Points and tap Create. You do this once per class, and the code stays the same until you make a new link.

  3. 3

    Pick a background and size

See-through lets your Classroomscreen background show, and the box stays empty until someone earns points. Night and Light fill the box with color and show "Points pop up here" while it waits. Large (800×600) fits most boards, Medium is 560×420, and Fill the box stretches to the widget.

  4. 4

    Copy the code

    Tap Copy embed code.

  5. 5

Add an Embed widget in Classroomscreen

On your Classroomscreen board, open More widgets and choose Embed.

  6. 6

    Paste and run

Paste the whole code into the widget and click Run code. Classroomscreen's own help page warns that a plain web address on its own can cause errors, so use the full code.

  7. 7

Give a point to test it

The card pops up on the board within a moment and fades after a few seconds.

What the class sees

A points card on the class display: Ruby's ghost character, +2 points, for Hard Worker

Each card shows the student's character, first name, the points they earned and the behavior they earned them for. One behavior given to a few students shares a card, and past three names the card shows how many students got it.

Only earned points appear. When a student spends points on a reward, that stays between you and them. If the board allows sound, the card plays your class's point sound, and if it doesn't, the card still shows.

Who can see the link

Anyone with the link sees first names as points are given, and nothing else. There are no last names, no totals and no point history on it. To stop it, go back to Embed Points and tap Turn off, or tap New link to replace it, and the old link stops working. More on how little Chou Chou stores is on the schools and privacy page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Chou Chou have to stay open on the computer running Classroomscreen?
No. The board picks up points from wherever you give them, so your phone, an iPad, or another computer all work.
Will it work in apps other than Classroomscreen?
Yes, in any board app or site that takes embed code. You can also tap Copy link only and open the link in a browser tab on a spare screen.
Do I need to reload it after Chou Chou updates?
No. The display reloads itself after an update, between cards, so it never cuts one off.
What do students see on the board?
A card with the student's character, first name, the points they earned, and the behavior they earned them for. Spending points on a reward never shows up on the board.
Is Chou Chou Teach part of Classroomscreen?
No. Classroomscreen is a separate product from a different company. Embed Points works through Classroomscreen's standard Embed widget, the same one teachers use for slides and videos.
