Chou Chou Teach ("Chou Chou," "we," "us") is a classroom points app for teachers. We're built around collecting as little personal information as possible — especially about students. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Teacher account. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image.
- Student information. Only a first name (or nickname) and a chosen avatar, entered by the teacher. We do not collect students' last names, emails, photos, birthdays, addresses, or any contact information, and students do not have accounts.
- Classroom data. Class names, the behaviors you create, point tallies, and tool preferences.
- Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address and device/browser type) collected by our hosting provider to keep the service secure and reliable.
How we use information
To provide and improve the app, create and manage your account, process your subscription, respond to support requests, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use student information for advertising.
Student data & FERPA
Chou Chou is designed to be FERPA-friendly by collecting the minimum possible student information (a first name and an avatar). Where Chou Chou processes student information, we act as a service provider to the teacher and their school; the teacher and school remain responsible for the student records they choose to enter. We do not use student information for any purpose other than providing the service, and we do not sell it or use it for targeted advertising.
Children's privacy
Chou Chou is intended for use by teachers, not children. Students do not create accounts and cannot log in. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The limited student information in the app is entered by the teacher.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the app:
- Google — sign-in/authentication.
- Stripe — subscription payments.
- Cloudflare — hosting and database.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete a class (and its students and points) at any time inside the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the email below.
Security
We use reputable infrastructure and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
